ABOUT US
A Brief History of EZTimers
In 1953, Bruce Grossman, at 10 years old already an experienced Lincoln Log and Erector Set mechanic, began his career repairing machinery in his grandfather's dry cleaning plant in suburban NJ. Observing every move real grown-up mechanics made while they performed their magic, Bruce quickly learned the “tricks of the trade”. By his early teens, there wasn't a machine manufactured that was safe; all fell victim to his “repairmania.” Bag filters, “piece of cake”; Detrex split pocket washer/extractor, “no problem”; Heubsch petroleum dryers, a “day at the beach”.
At seventeen years old, Bruce enlisted for four years of active duty with the US Navy and trained and served as an electronic technician. After being discharged, he decided to turn his troubleshooting and repair skills into a career and had business cards printed. After distributing them to about 20 local cleaners, he was off and running and within a few weeks had a flourishing “going concern”. After several months and acquiring a few dozen customers, he was handling 3-5 service calls a day. The experience gained from completing these calls revealed that many common machinery problems were predictable. Not only were they predictable, they were also likely to recur, the cause being design deficiencies in the machinery under repair. With this realization, it became apparent that there was a market for manufacturing and selling devices that corrected these design shortcomings, enhancing the performance of these machines. Thus, EZtimers Manufacturing was born. Bruce established this organization dedicated to the design, engineering, and manufacture of aftermarket devices built to save money, reduce stress and aggravation, and enhance the operation of existing machinery.
